We provide classroom ministry and care for children 18
months through 5th grade. For infants younger than 18 months, we
have an infant care room and nursing mothers’ area that is equipped with
speakers so that parents don’t have to miss the sermon.
We offer three classes for children on Sunday mornings. Explore is for toddlers 18 months-3
years and is available the entire service. Discover is for 4-6 year olds, and
Adventure is for children 2nd-5th grade. Kids in Discover and Adventure are
dismissed from the Sunday Celebration to their teachers immediately after
announcements.
Our two older classes use a curriculum called God’s Story
that teaches through the Bible in a 3-4 year timetable. Each lesson seeks to teach the main
point of the passage and how it relates to the main storyline of the Bible –
God’s plan to save sinners through the person and work of Jesus Christ.
We love the fact that each group studies the same Bible
passage for that day, with older children going deeper into the meaning and
application of the text. This
facilitates review of the material for families with more than one child since
they are all learning the same passage. Devotional guides that build on the
lesson’s teaching throughout the week are free for everyone who wishes to use
them (click on “Promise Kingdom Handouts” for the current devotional).
Security for our children is vital. Promise Kingdom
volunteers are screened with an application and training process that includes
background checks. There are always two or more volunteers present with the
children. And each adult that admits a child into the class is issued a tag
that they must present for that child to be released to their care.
